Active Engagement Muscle Therapy
Active Engagement techniques integrate active motion while specific massage techniques are applied. In this protocol, massage is performed on specific muscles while those muscles are actively shortened or lengthened. These techniques are particularly valuable when working with chronic tension, overuse injuries, deep muscles that are difficult to access. Using massage along with movement routinely produces faster and longer-lasting results with many types of soft-tissue disorders.
As scar tissue and adhesions build up, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons become tendonitis and nerves become trapped. This can cause a reduced range of motion, loss of strength and pain. If a nerve is trapped, you may also feel tingling, numbness and weakness. Deep tissue massage relieves the aches and pains in specific areas of the body. The therapist uses cross-fiber and longitudinal strokes to work deep in the muscle tissue, breaking up and softening knots while decreasing spasms and tight muscles. Fascial Stretch Therapy
Rehabilitative and restorative passive and active stretching that targets the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and joints.
Myofascial Release is a bodywork technique focused on the body's fascia, which is a connective tissue system that weaves through the entire body. Myofascial Release is stretching of the fascia. Using little product, tight areas are relieved as the fascial layer is lengthened. The therapist waits for the tissue to relax and then increases the stretch. The process is repeated until the area is fully relaxed.
Uneven muscle tension compresses the muscles and nerves causing pain. Neuromuscular Bodywork is a form of deep tissue massage that works to realign and reposition various structures and tissues in the body to increase ease of movement, reduce pain and help the body function in a more efficient manner overall.

Trigger points are small areas of tightness within muscles that develop through injuries or with overuse. From these small knots of muscle tension, pain is frequently referred (i.e. transmitted) to other parts of the body. By working the trigger point with sustained and focused pressure, the knots are released, thereby ceasing the referred pain. This modality is especially effective for Carpal Tunnel, TMJ, as well as chronic low back, neck and shoulder stress.
